Monarch Metamorphosis with The Butterfly Whisperer ®

Join us at the Lakeshore Branch for a free talk about Monarch Butterflies, presented by Kimberly Parry ~ The Butterfly Whisperer ®. Kim has raised, worked with, educated about, and ‘whispered’ to monarch butterflies for over 45 years. Discover the magical world of monarch butterflies through an up-close-and-personal exploration of their life cycle, their miraculous migration to Mexico, and, weather permitting, a live butterfly release!

This program is in partnership with the Innisfil Seed Library, who will be sharing helpful tips about seeds and plants that support the Monarch population, including the essential milkweed plant.

Presented by the Innisfil Seed Library, join us for this free workshop to learn how to save seeds, keep some for the next growing season and help replenish our seed library. Beginners and gardeners of all ages welcome! Learn to identify seeds and discover when and how to harvest seeds from your favourite vegetables, herbs and flowers. Our focus will be on easy seeds to save but we'll touch on advanced ones too for ambitious green thumbs. Bring your questions! This all-ages event is free and requires registration. Gardens of Cookstown Tour

The Innisfil Garden Club, in partnership with the Innisfil Idealab & Library, Cookstown Branch, and the Innisfil Seed Library, invites you to Gardens of Cookstown, a self-guided, walking garden tour featuring seven private gardens in Cookstown, Ontario.

Garden Tour Passports are $15 each and can be purchased, cash only, at the following locations beginning in July (date tba):

  • Barrie’s Garden Centre
  • Ferragine Greenhouses, Bradford
  • Halliday House Blooms, Cookstown
  • Lakeview Gardens, Lefroy
  • Lavender Floral, Stroud
  • Spring Tree Farm, Innisfil

In addition to one-time entry to each garden, Garden Tour Passport holders can enjoy the following at anytime during the tour in the community room at the Cookstown Branch, 20 Church St., Cookstown:

  • Refreshments and desserts provided by the Innisfil Garden Club.
  • A chance to win a Thanksgiving floral centrepiece from Halliday House Blooms in Cookstown. Enter your Gardens of Cookstown draw ticket along with your name and phone number in the draw box at the Halliday House Blooms display.
  • Learn about the Innisfil Seed Library and saving seeds through seed identification games and demonstrations at the Innisfil Seed Library display.
